Top 5 Style Savings Tips

It is  one  thing to be able to create fashion forward style but it is quite another to be able to pull off that same style with limited funds.  In an effort to build my wardrobe to the desired level, I have created my top five list of must use techniques to keep your money where it needs to be: in your bank account.

Dump the cookies

We have all heard of the dreaded cookie, but do you really know what they do behind the scenes? Retailers determine the offers that they send their customers based on the information that they gain from tracking your shopping habits with cookies.  If you want to get better offers from your favorite stores then periodically dump the cookies attached to your computer.  Once your cookies are dumped you will look like a new customer to your favorite retailer which means that they will offer you a better deal to make your first purchase and entice you to become a loyal customer.

Use their programs

Every retailer has some program that they offer to help gain your loyalty. Use those programs to your advantage. Most retailers offer a deals to provide your feedback. In exchange for your feedback, they will offer you a coupon to be used on your next purchase.  Take the time to fill out the survey and get the coupon. Next, if you are able to manage to pay the card off every month, consider having a credit card to your favorite retailer.  Retailers will provide better coupons, offers and invitations to exclusive events to those who have their cards. Finally, if you do not feel that having a store card is your cup of tea, look at the other options that stores provide as means to join their loyalty programs. Some people run their loyalty programs using email blasts and others like CVS have loyalty cards that you sign up for. Take advantage of the deals and points that they offer as a means to save.

Shop at the right time

When you shop is just as important as where you shop. Markdowns are done on Thursday evenings in preparation for the weekend, so if you are looking for a great bargain hit the stores then and get the best options in terms of size and color. Then, plan out large purchases based on the month that they go on sale. Final winter markdowns are done in March before retailers send items back to the vendor. Pay special attention to the clearance racks this month.

Use online shopping carts

If you really want an item (especially a big ticket item) leave it in your online shopping cart for several days. The retailer will often send you a coupon that is valid for your online purchase as a way to entice you to complete the transaction.

Style on a budget is about more than the ability to put a look together. You must also be able to work the system and use a retailers programs to your advantage.  How do you use loyalty programs to help you create fashion forward style?
