In the Trenches- The Fashion Forward Guide to Choosing Fall Outerwear

As the temperature begins to drop the next must have item on the shopping list is a fabulous piece of outerwear. Every closet needs multiple options to be prepared for all the social occasions that will arise this fall. The first order of business is to ensure your closet contains at least one trench coat in a neutral color. The trench coat is for everyday or evening. The next order of business is the purchase of either a leather of faux leather coat. The leather coat will be for those casual days with jeans and boots. Finally, all women need one dress coat that can serve for those more formal social occasions or business dinners. The one featured here I purchased from Kenneth Cole last November. The red color is a standout that really brightens up some of those warm fall hues. It is an item that I can wear with jeans and black boots or with dress clothes for the office.

In my search for the perfect fall outerwear pieces I have found several options that will serve us well in the fall. Nordstrom has an amazing mixed fabric trench from BeBe for $139.90.  Two other great places to get an affordable fall trench are H and M and Target. Target has a black and white plaid trench for $49.95. The trench at H and M is a brown and pink plaid and is a fashionable addition to any fall wardrobe. Banana Republic has a fashion forward option that is a combination of a trench and a cape. Guess makes a delicate pink Double Breasted Bow Back coat that retails for $129.00. For everyday wear, as a consumer you must decide on either leather or faux leather. An investment in leather takes a sizeable bite out of the budget since leather can run anywhere from $200.00 to $400.00.  If leather is your pleasure for fall, I have found three amazing options. Nicole Miller has an option for $169.00. The Michael Kors option retails for $299.00. The biggest bite out of your wallet is if you invest in the Tommy Hilfiger option for $425.50. If you choose a faux leather option, Target has a Faux Leather option for $49.99. By purchasing at least one version of these three options, then you will be set up for fashion success in fall.
