How to Sparkle in Style
Everywhere you look at this time of year, you find people who are ready to sparkle and shine and you can too. Adding an element of bling to your everyday wardrobe is simple if you follow a few simple style guidelines.
Choosing the Fabric
One of the most important decisions to make when it comes to choosing to create an outfit that sparkles is the fabric choice. If you choose a garment that is made out of inferior fabric, then the entire outfit comes across as cheap. That rule is especially true when it comes to an outfit that has a hint of sparkle. Sparkle and sheen can easily be misread as gaudy if you are not careful.
Once Is Enough
Another common mistake when it comes to styling with sparkle is what I like to call sparkle overload. Sparkle is a powerful element when it comes to styling and as with any other powerful style element, less is more. In this case, our sparkle is represented in the sweater and then accented with the scarf. Those two elements at our sparkle limit. Anything more than that and we are entering Christmas ornament territory.
I styled my version of the sparkle with a statement scarf, a skinny jean and a pair of soft grey knee-boots.
Accessories, Makeup, and Hairstyles
If you are making a sparkle statement with your outfit, then the rest of your outfit ensemble needs to have a subtle style. Makeup colors should be soft. Choose a pale pink or golden brown palette for the eye and a soft rose color for your lip. In this example since we pulled some of the sparkle out with the scarf, then the remaining accessories need to be smaller and more understated in order to create balance. If you opt for a more subtle makeup and accessory combination, and are still looking to add some flair, then achieve that added flair by going all out with your hairstyle.
Now is your time to shine, get your sparkle on and hit the door.
