A Vacation Wardrobe That Will Not Break the Bank
With the upcoming holiday season approaching, many people will be indulging in fun-filled trips to visit family or amazing get aways that take advantage of some of the affordable offers that are available. Whatever reason you choose to use to get out of town, we are all faced with the same dilemma. How do I get everything I need to bring with me in that one little bag? I took a trip to Chicago recently and made the mistake of overpacking and paid a heavy price for that decision in the form of overweight fees. So, I wanted to share a few tips for how you can avoid those same penalties.
Find Ways to Do Double Duty
Look for ways to use the items that you pack in more than one way. In Stretching the Dollar and the Dress we covered the multiple ways available to use a dress as to create multiple unique looks. When packing think along those same lines. So, make sure that one of the pieces that you pack as the basis of your vacation wardrobe is a great dress. A dress is a great base piece for your vacation wardrobe. In warm climates a dress can be worn with bare legs and sandals. In colder climates, style your dress with tights and boots.
Choose Your Coverup Carefully
Regardless of what type of climate you are visiting, pack a lightweight sweater or jacket. There are several great options to use when packing sweaters and jackets. A tailored denim jacket is a must have for every vacation wardrobe. Denim can be worn to style the dress you packed as well as with a pair of khaki trousers or shorts. Even when you are visiting warmer climates it is still important to pack a lightweight sweater or jacket. The airport and the plan are often cold and require the use of a sweater. Also, temperatures often drop at night and having a sweater handy will prepare you for those temperature drops. Finally, think of all the indoor places that you will be visiting. The temperatures in restaurants alone is reason enough to pack a sweater.
Do It With Denim
Consider the bottoms that you pack carefully because you may want them to serve double duty as well. What people remember most about any outfit are the tops and jewelry that you are flaunting. Therefore, if you choose your denim carefully they can serve double duty as well. Choose jeans or bottom that are free of embellishment for vacation if you want them to be worn on multiple occasions. If they have embellishments then people will remember them, without embellishment then people will not realize that you are wearing the same bottoms on more than one occasion. Make you statement with shoes and jewelry for a lasting impression without all the extra weight of denim.
Vacation can be an exciting time. Everyone wants to look good and feel good. Follow these simple steps to enjoy a vacation filled with fun and void overweight fees. My final tip is to purchase a small scale in the luggage section of your local department store. With that simple tool, you will know before you leave if your suitcase will hit you in the pocketbook when you arrive at the airport.
